We're hiring undergrad students for research internship position at Network Security and Privacy lab.

저희 연구실은 학부생 연구 참여를 적극 권장하고, 같이 Top-tier 논문을 쓰고, 공동저자로 인정 해 드립니다. 저희 연구실에서 최근에 인턴십 학생들과 함께 수행한 연구들 입니다.

We highly encourage all our internship students to actively participate in research projects, co-author top-tier conference papers. Here are some recent research papers that are co-authored by undergrad/grad internship students.

1. [S&P 2019] Analyze the state-of-the-art DDoS defense and show the impossibility (co-authored by 3 NTU undergrad interns)

2. [S&P 2020] The Erebus attack can partition Bitcoin network (co-authored by 1 Korea University undergrad intern, 1 Yonsei Univ undergrad intern)

3. [USENIX Security 2021] Practical countermeasures against the Bitcoin partitioning attacks (co-authored by 1 NUS grad intern)

연구실에서 일하시게 되면 블록체인 보안, IoT 시스템 보안/프라이버시, 이동통신시스템 보안 관련 프로젝트에 함께 참여하실 수 있습니다. 학생이 끈기를 가지고 프로젝트 마무리 까지 함께 하면서 논문에 이름을 올리는 것을 늘 장려하고, 이를 위해서 교수, 대학원생이 함께 도와드릴 것입니다.

You will be able to work on project on blockchain security, IoT system security/privacy, and cellular network security. Our team of a SoC faculty member and several grad students will help the interns to participate and eventually co-author research papers during the internship period.

현재 인턴십 참여 예정 프로젝트 예시는 다음과 같습니다.

• 다양한 블록체인 클라이언트 (예: 비트코인, 이더리움, 클레이튼) 구현의 자원 복잡도 대상 신규 공격 개발 연구

• 프라이빗 블록체인 네트워크를 안전하고 정확하게 측정할 수 있는 신규 프라이버시 기술 연구

• 보이스피싱 등의 악의적인 콜 실시간 탐지를 위한 네트워크 트래픽 워터마킹 기술 연구

• 네트워크 프로토콜 구현 취약점 분석 자동화 기술 연구

• 블록체인 네트워크 계층 공격을 실험, 검증하는 보안성 자동 분석 플랫폼 연구

Here are some sample projects the new interns might be able to join.

• Developing novel network attacks against blockchain clients' resource complexity (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, Klaytn)

• Designing and implementing a secure, scalable, and accurate network measurement for permissionless blockchains

• Detecting phishing scam calls (e.g., voice phishing) via network traffic watermarking

• Automating vulnerability analysis for network protocol implementations

• Building a universal platform for large-scale blockchain attack evaluations

유급 인턴이 기본 조건으로 최대 3명의 인턴을 모집합니다. 연구 참여는 (여름방학) 혹은 (여름방학+가을학기) 등으로 유동적으로 조절가능합니다.

We plan to hire up to three intern and they will be paid internship positions. The internship period can be negotiated during the interview: you may choose to work Summer only or Summer+Fall for your internship.

보안 연구, 해킹 경험이 없어도 괜찮습니다 (물론 있으면 좋죠). 네트워크 및 시스템에 대한 이해가 단단하고, 개발 경험이 있으시면 좋습니다.

보안 관련 수업이 아니더라도, 네트워크, 시스템, 운영체제, 기계학습 관련 수업에서 좋은 성과를 보이신 분들도 좋습니다.

무엇보다도 중요한 것은 늘 궁금한게 많고 끈기 매우 강한 학생입니다. 좋은 연구는 하루 이틀에 이뤄지지 않습니다. 그리고 교수가 시키는 대로 따라가기만 한다고 이뤄지지도 않습니다. 매우 적극적으로 늘 질문하고 배우는 자세를 갖고 계신 분들을 찾습니다.
